Real question: Do you care if extended family members are added as readers?

I got a request from Lorisa to add her as a reader to this blog. I absolutely don't care, but right before I pressed "add reader" I thought I had better ask you all.

Security Question

I was wondering what everybody thought about having this a private blog. When we set the blog up originally, we wanted it private so if there was any personal info, not everyone in the world could find it. There is a problem having it private though. If anyone posts anything, you actually have to go to the site to see if anything is new. If it is not private you can use services like Google reader or even email to get any updates or posts that people make to the blog. The blog is currently set to not be listed on blogger and can not be searched for by search engines. This means the only way to get to the blog is if you know the exact address of it. If everyone removes the link on their own private blogs, no outsiders would have access and we could get updates. You would still have to login to post a comment though. It was just a thought I had & was wondering what everyone thought about it.

Bowron Lakes

Ok! So I have been dreaming of returning to the beautiful Bowron Lakes Provincial Park in British Columbia for about a decade now. I am inviting YOU to come. I am organizing a group that can be no larger than 14 people. I am also sending an invitation to more than 14 people (assuming married couples are interested in canoeing). A number of people are already interested so here is how I will favor YOU over the other guy:

Pay up! Its only $60 a person and I am not loaning any money when I make the reservation. Cancellation fees are only $6 if cancelled 21 days in advance.

Now as far as when I am making the reservation . . . I am totally open to suggestions. To be safe, we will give ourselves 9 days to do everything including driving. I want to do it in July; that’s my suggestion: good weather and longer days. I’m guessing you are going to want to know a definitive date before forking up any dough, so here is how I pick your date over the other guy:

Call me soon! I plan on making a reservation by the end of January, so if I hear from you and can tell that you are as excited to see the moose and loons and eat raw trout as I am, then I will be all the more persuaded to pick your week.

New Recipe Site

Announcing (dum da da DA!): Quigley Cuisine

A while ago Mom asked me if we could create a recipe site as part of our online good times. I thought it was a great idea, but just haven't gotten around to it...until now. The recipe site is a GO for launch. In fact it already has several recipes on it, so you can get a good feel for how it will work. I hope no one minds (Jana and Jen) that I already posted some of your delicious recipes for you. If you'd like to post some of your own (please please do!), I just need to set you up as an author. Please leave a comment on this post, and I'll send you an email invite. (FYI- I am not making Quigley Cuisine a private blog like I have the rest of our sites. Let's share our recipes with everyone.)

For those of you that will be sharing your recipes (again, please please do), I have a few tips.

First, I encourage you to take a picture of your yummy dish. Is it just me, or do pictures make a big difference when choosing a new recipe? I love seeing those mouth watering photos. As you will see, Jana is very good at this. All her food looks scrumptious. (For those of you that use photoshop/photobucket to size your pictures, the post field is 500px wide.)

Second, put the actual title of the recipe in the title field. This will help when we're trying to search out a specific recipe.

Third, to make our site ultra functional, all authors need to use LABELS. Labels are basically just a way of separating posts into categories. We will be using labels to form a recipe file. I've created a quick tutorial to demonstrate what I mean.

When creating a new post you have to opportunity to label your recipes into
different categories, just like you would file your recipe cards into different categories.
I've circled in red where you would insert said labels.



If you click on "Show all" it will show you all the categories that have already been created for this blog.



Simply click on an existing label (or multiple labels if your recipe calls for it) to add it.
Or, if you don't see the category you need, you can just type it to create a new category.



All labels need to be separated by a comma, but other than that there is really no tricky stuff about it.
If we all use these labels, it'll make looking up a recipe VERY easy.
Now that you know how to use labels, feel free to use them on the forum too.

Now go post something delicious!

Cha cha cha changes...

Hey everyone! You've probably noticed a few changes around the forum. Hope you like the new look. (This is for you Mignon and Jen. I now see the world in denim.) Some of the features include new links to the regular bloggers in the family. You can now easily see in one glance if anyone has updated their blog. Also, as you can see, I put pictures of each family in the sidebar. I really like how that looks! Not to boast, but dang we have a handsome family. Good work Dad and Mom! Unfortunately I don't have updated family pictures for everyone. If you would like a particular picture to be used please email it to me so I can get it uploaded. (Mignon- for some reason I have zero pictures of your whole family. Send me one!) One more change is the Reunion Info site and the Reunion Comments site have been combined into one...Quigley Reunions. I think it'll be a lot more functional that way. If anyone has any questions or requests please let Greg or myself know. (I would love some ideas for the Home page. Any good ones out there?) We're grateful for your participation on this blog. I love getting together anytime, anywhere...even on the internet. Love you all!

A month has flown by.

I can't believe a month has already passed. Eve is awesome, Miles is doing great, Brenden is the best biggest brother, Greg is in full swing at school, and I'm sleepy. :) That pretty much sums us up. I did want to let everyone know about our plans for blessing Eve. We've decided to do it in Kaysville, Utah on August 3rd. Greg's brother Adam is getting married on the 4th, so it will give much of his Canadian family the opportunity to be a part of Eve's blessing. Greg's other brother, Chris, will also be blessing their son Aidan that day. We fully don't expect you to come, but we'd like to invite you. Mom and Dad are planning on coming with Gwen's kids. I think that'll be it. It'll be weird not to have tons of Quigleys around, but it's all good. If you do want to come let me know and I'll get you times. Love you all!

Emma's Baptism

I just thought I'd post some pictures from Emma's baptism for those of you that couldn't make it. Emma looked so cute and grown up!

Emma- Your Uncle Greg and Aunt Melinda are so proud of you for making the choice to be baptized. How awesome is it that you now have the Holy Ghost with you always?! I know that even at your sweet age, he can and will help you and guide you whenever you need him. What a special gift! It makes me so happy to know that you and your older cousins have that protection. You were just a teeny-tiny thing when Greg and I got married almost 7 years ago. As we have grown, you have occupied a special little place in our hearts. We love you so much and know your Heavenly Father loves you too. Thanks for letting us be a part of your special day!

Emma Baptism Day Info

Hey all! Last second again I am afraid but here is the schedule for tomorrow for anyone who needs it:

4:00- Baptism and Confirmation at Kuna Stake Center
(Directions: Come like you were going to our house. After going over the railroad tracks on Swan Falls immediately turn RT on Shortline. Follow that road for a long time(sorry I don't pay attention to how many miles) until you get to Black Cat Road and the Stake Center is there on the left hand side. (turn left on Black Cat)

Afterwards (not sure what time it will be done) please come back to our house for dinner and dessert.

No need to bring anything!
We love you all!!! We are extremely excited for our sweet daughter's big day!
