SWEET BETTY JO - 1968
BUHL HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION

ANNIVERSARY
'Twas a grey winter's morning in '71; snowing and blowing and all sorts of fun.
The roads were quite icy, visibility poor; yet I was ecstatic - that was for sure!
It was off to the "The Falls"...Wade, Marty and me; nothing would stop Divine destiny.
Driving was terrible, frightful and slow; yet somehow we made it, the town was aglow.
Temple by the River...a sight to behold on a bleak blustery day with weather so cold.
I raced through the doorway, upset to be late, wound up and ready, but was told I must wait.
As fate would have it, my papers lack Bishop and President signing the back.
They were both there (hallelujah!) and took care of that deed; so I raced and got dressed. Made the Session with speed.
We met at the Veil. She melted my heart. Then married and sealed - an Eternal start.
Your Angel Mother! My Sweet Betty Jo!! Thank you my Darling!!! I love you so!!!!

Wow Quigs! You outdid yourself this time!!! Very special indeed! Some great memories! I am truly glad that you showed up that day! It was a dreary day weather-wise, but the sun was certainly shining in our hearts!... So long ago yet it seems like only yesterday... And we made very handsome kids together don't you think! In fact, they're even kind of smart, athletic, quick-witted, hard-working...to name a few. (Of course, they mostly took after you.) And no one has greater grand children! I couldn't love you more! Thanks for taking such good care of me all of these years! XOXOXO BJ
ReplyDeleteI have never seen that first picture of mom. So gorgeous. I hope that you and mom had a great time at your anniversary dinner, Pops. 38 years! I've barely lived half that long. Crazy. Love you both.
ReplyDeleteThat post was "something very very special". I can't tell you what it did to me....made me all twisted up inside and full of gratitude. I am very thankful for all you both have done for me. What a wonderful life you have given me. You are wonderful parents and I love all my bothers and sisters (and their spouses now and their kids)! We are very blessed. It's been a long time since I have heard a dad poem. You seem more at peace lately pops and I just want you to know that I love you.

AWESOME post, Dad! I love your poems. You have a true gift for writing and you've passed it on to a few of your kids too. Not me, but I enjoy the wittiness of those that have been given this wonderful gift. I'm glad you and Mom found each other and can't thank you both enough for all you did for us growing up as well as now while we raise our own children. Congratulations on 38 wonderful years!! Love you both tons!!
