Yo fam...made it down and back to the land of fruits and nuts (San Francisco) for the nml western meeting last week. everything went fine except for the suicidal deer south of Jackpot where Salmon Falls Creek meets up with with the highway by the Bois Ranch. came over the little hill, slowed way down, into the blind spot where about 20 deer were crossing the highway. no oncoming traffic so i hit the brakes and pulled way left. my left tires were in the left barrow pit. 19 head turned back to the north, however one just knew it could beat me south across the road. took out the right head light and front 1/4 panel, breaking much plastic. the passenger door will not open.i really looked styl'in in CA with my duct tape, avocado dip and deer hair job. other than the body damage, everything is fine. drove 1600 total miles without any probs. however, the car is totalled as it will cost more to fix the broken plastic than the rig is worth. bummer.
glad i wasn't book'in it thru there. my 1st deer strike in 50 year of driving. hope it's my last. stopped and looked around on my way back home. counted 102 head of deer grazing in that area within 100 yards of the road. crazy! the coyotes had already eaten my venison jerky.
stay tuned for the next addition to the fleet ~ probably a Harley for your angel mother to drive around! luv...pops

You have got to love duct tape car repairs! I used that trick a few times on the old Saturn. My work didn't look as professonal as yours though.
ReplyDeleteOn the bright side...Mom gets a new car. Yay Mom! Glad you made it there and back safe Dad.
ReplyDeleteYIKES!! Glad you were alright, Dad. Wow, it really did some serious damage to the car. Hook Mom up with something COOL!! Let Lawrence know if you want our guy to look for something at the auction.

I actually had a suicidal deer try to head on into our "newish" car as I drove it back from Driggs to Rexburg. Luckily, it was just one deer and I slowed down in time. I'm sad to see the Century go. I love that car. You should get an Element...he he.

Glad you're alright dad. Stinks about the car. You did a great job with the tape though....I agree with Greg. It looked professional.
