William Ted Quigley is here!

Brit set a new hospital record for speedy delivery after being induced. She received Pitocin at 7:30 AM and Will was born at 8:20 AM! The little guy met harsh reality immediately when his umbilical cord wrapped around his throat and prevented his breathing and blood flow. He came out completely blue and didn't breath for the first full minute. After about 45 seconds and no response, me, the doctor, and all seven of the nurses were beginning to get a bit anxious, but when I turned to Brit and asked, "How you doing babe?" She calmly responded, "He'll be fine." She was right. His perfect Eli-clone cry split the silence within seconds of her declaration and life began for the little guy. He spent his first three hours in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit for precautionary purposes, but within 30 minutes of taking his first breath became pink and beautiful. Brit had a dream that Will was black and hairy - turns out he was blue and blond . . .

7 pounds 14 ounces plus 20.5 inches long makes him the runt of our family so far. He nursed without any problems and cuddled everybody who held him throughout his first day without any fussiness. In fact the first time we heard his voice after the labor and delivery room was when he cood upon meeting his big sister.
Thanks to all the local family who came to share in this beautiful day. It's awesome to have you close and know that you love my kids as much as I do. Thanks Nons and Reese for the beautiful roses for my woman. I don't know why, but it's comforting knowing that there are so many that love him in this world, even though he's brand new to it. Also a special thanks to Mom Larsen for sacrificing her last work week to help out with Em and Eli (we'll try not to let your joy leak back to your principal).

PS. Eli was forbidden to bring any batons into the mother and baby section of the hospital, but he did the best he could with what he had - his arm. I love the innocence on his face and the expression on Brit's. Once again, priceless.
