Reunion

PS- I don't know if I've mentioned that the cabin for the reunion does NOT permit pets. I'm sorry if this inconveniences any of you pet owners out there. Hopefully this is enough time for you to make arrangements for their care. Thanks for your cooperation in this.

This one's for you pops!

You taught us well...

Vintage Eve Marie

Photobucket

Gwen, Mignon, or Reese do you remember this dress?

One of us used to wear it. Mom thought it may have been Reese or myself, so she let me have it for awhile to use for Eve. I thought I recognized it, but I looked through my pictures, and didn't see it. I'd love to have something that may have been mine, but I want to make sure it wasn't yours. Anyways, Eve is so cute in it. I think today may be the only day she'll be able to wear it. It's a bit small, but I still love the baby doll look. Thanks for letting me use it, Mom.

Oh, and Mom, do you know if someone made it? I can't remember if I already asked you this.

1st Solo Flight

Hello everyone,
It's the middle of the night and I can't sleep so I thought I'd give you all a little update on how things are going. Now that my financing has all gone through for school I've been able to make some considerable progress. I've passed off all the basic maneuvers, advanced maneuvers, emergency procedures, weather, and airspace navigation/radio communications in the helicopter and on the ground. I do engine out procedures on a regular basis where my instructor cuts the power and I fly the helicopter safely to the ground. We've also been doing a lot of work off airport practicing pinnacle and confined landings along the Boise river, foothills, and canyons which is pretty fun. Friday night I had my first night flight which is quite relaxing with all the city lights and has a bit of a romantic feel to it. Yesterday was my first Solo Flight!! It's was a liberating experience for me. I've been looking forward to my first solo flight for a long time. Helicopter training is a bit different than fixed wing. Uncle Randy said in his explanation that trying to keep a helicopter level in a hover is like trying to stand on a beach ball in water. I wouldn't say it's quite that hard but pretty close. Especially at first. In helicopter training, a lot of students actually drop out before a solo flight is even possible. Anyway, thankfully things have been coming along pretty good for me. Next week I will do my first cross-country flight where we will fly to Twin Falls or Ontario, fuel up, and fly back. Shortly after I will do my first Solo Cross Country. Then, I won't be to far from getting my Private Pilot License. After my private license, I'll start working on my instrument rating, followed by my Commercial License. Then my CFI and CFII. So I've still got a way's to go but am making progress. Here are a couple of pictures of my 1st Solo Flight for those who might be interested.
Love you all,
Bryant

Tag Team Sisters

I thought I'd share a picture of Mignon's skills in action. For those of you that don't know that Nonny bakes amazing bread, where have you been?! She's a master, and I was so glad to have her come teach my young women how to "know dough". We made Bread in a Bag, using Ziplocks and hand power instead of mixers. The girls loved it, and their braided loaves turned out so beautiful.

We also made a special loaf to be used for the sacrament on Sunday. While the bread was rising and baking, I gave a lesson on the importance of Sacrament Meeting, and how to prepare for it. I pulled my lesson from the conference talk given by Elder Oaks. For some reason I was super nervous to give this lesson, but an hour beforehand, Greg let me sound off to him, and it all came together. I have to hand it to Greg...he's an excellent 3rd counselor.

Anyways, I just wanted to say thanks again, Mignon, for all your preparation and expertise. It was really a lot of fun. I loved it!

(PS- Mignon, will you post your recipes on the recipe site...or can I? I'll give you the credit for them.)

O-B-A-M-M-E-R !

Can we all say President O-B-A-M-A? Say it again, slowly with me. O-B-A-M-A. Okay, it's going to take some getting used to. All I can say is, I hope nobody is planning on making alot of money for the next four years. And um, I'm totally freaking out about healthcare. Being in the healthcare industry, it could very well affect our job. Take a deep breath. I need to relax here, I know. Sorry for the small rant.
On the flip side, I will say I do think it's a HUGE step forward that the country can get beyond it's racism and vote for an African American for President of the United States. After serving my mission in the south, were racism is still VERY, VERY REAL & SCARY, this is AWESOME!! For that reason, I'm stoked for the guy. Guess we'll see what happens.

So my adorable woman, who spends half her waking hours out on Rhapsody creating the playlist for her life, has created a blog. You need to check it out. She waxes philisophical about some of it. It's very cute.
